Die sets in Tijuana: stamping tooling assembled and tried out
We do not sell loose punches and leave you to figure out the assembly. We build the complete die set, assemble it, try it out in the press and hand it over making good parts.
The complete die, not the parts
A die set is a system: shoe, plates, punches, die buttons, guides, springs, stops and ejectors working together with clearances measured in hundredths. When every component comes from a different supplier, the customer absorbs the final fit in hours of idle press time.
We design the die from the part you want to stamp, wire-EDM the die plates, grind them after hardening, make the punches, mount everything in the shoe and try it out. You receive tooling that goes into the press and produces.
Wire EDM: why the clearance comes out right
Die plates are wire cut, not milled. Wire EDM works hardened steel without distorting it, leaves sharp internal corners no end mill can produce, and holds the profile within microns through the full plate thickness.
After cutting we grind the faces to guarantee parallelism. That pairing — wire plus grinding — is what sets the punch-to-die clearance, and clearance is what decides whether the part comes out with burr, whether the punch dulls quickly, and whether the die lasts for years.
Maintaining the die you already own
The die does not have to be ours. We take in existing tooling for punch and die sharpening, replacement of broken components, clearance correction and general refurbishing.
A well-maintained die produces in-spec parts for years; a neglected one starts throwing burr, then bends the part, and finally snaps a punch mid-run. Scheduled sharpening is far cheaper than the emergency.

Frequently asked questions about die sets in Tijuana
It depends on the number of stations and the complexity of the strip layout. A simple blanking die runs three to four weeks; a multi-station progressive die, six to eight. The quote carries a committed date, not a range.
Yes — it is a significant part of our workload. We take it in, strip it, measure the actual wear and tell you which components are worth sharpening and which need replacing, priced separately so you decide.
Yes. It is fully assembled and run in the press until the part is confirmed to print. If your volume allows it, we also send the first tryout parts so you can inspect them before receiving the tooling.
