Industrial sharpening in Tijuana on a 48-hour cycle

A dull blade does not stop cutting all at once: first it leaves burr, then it crushes the material, and eventually it breaks the part. Scheduled sharpening costs a fraction of that chain.

Sharpening is grinding, not bench work

The distinction matters. A bench grinder removes material fast and burns the edge; grinding removes microns with controlled coolant and leaves the original geometry intact. We sharpen on a grinder, with 19 × 9 × 10 inch capacity and controlled feed.

That means the blade recovers its actual edge angle, not an approximation, and the steel does not lose hardness to overheating. A properly sharpened blade cuts like new; a burnt one lasts half as long as the time before.

A recurring program instead of emergencies

With line customers we work on a cycle: we collect the used set, sharpen, measure and return within 48 hours while the line runs on the replacement set. Nothing ever stops waiting for sharpening.

We track how many times each set has been sharpened and how much material it has left. When a blade reaches its limit, you hear about it before it fails in production, not after.

Dies, punches and cutting tools too

The same equipment that sharpens blades maintains stamping punches and die plates. A punch sharpened on time prevents burr on the stamped part and extends the life of the whole die.

We take in our own tooling and other manufacturers'. If stripping it reveals wear that sharpening can no longer correct, we report it with the measurements and quote the replacement component separately.

When to sharpen and when to replace

Every sharpening removes material and moves the tool closer to its dimensional limit. The right question is not «does it still cut?» but «how much material is left before it goes out of spec?»

When a set arrives we measure it and compare it against the original print dimension. With that number we tell you how many cycles it has left and when to order the replacement, so it arrives before the current set dies rather than after. On line blades, ordering the replacement a month ahead costs the same and prevents the stoppage. That heads-up is part of the service, at no charge.

Frequently asked questions about industrial sharpening in Tijuana

It depends on original thickness and how much material comes off each time. With proper grinding it is usually eight to fifteen cycles. We keep the log per set and warn you as it approaches the limit.

Yes, within Tijuana and the surrounding area. For customers on a recurring program, pickup is part of the service and is not billed separately.

Yes, though it should be said plainly: sharpening removes the coating at the cutting edge. If the application requires it, we coordinate re-coating; if not, the tool performs fine with a bare edge.
